Nokia has released today this big news:

Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DOCOMO announced today their intent to unite Symbian OS(TM), S60, UIQ and MOAP(S) to create one open mobile software platform. Together with AT&T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone they plan to establish the Symbian Foundation to extend the appeal of this unified software platform.

The Foundation will provide a unified platform with common UI framework. A full platform will be available for all Foundation members under a royalty-free license, from the Foundation’s first day of operations.

Telefonica Movistar “will” bring you the iPhone

June 2nd, 2008 by Álvaro Arregui

Telefonica Movistar has uploaded its iPhone website, where you can join to receive further information about the new iPhone and its lunch, but in the web there is a suspicious slogan: “Movistar brings you the magic of the Iphone, Do you want to know when?”. Umm “When?” sounds not this June, maybe Movistar “will” bring you the magic of the iPhone but who knows when.

Rumors talk about new 3G iPhone will be delayed maybe some weeks, and Telefónica announced that its Iphone presentation will be next June 18th, it sounds not good, because if Telefonica presents the iphone next June 18th and in its web they tell you to register for further information, people like me that want this gadget now probably we have to wait for a “long” time. : (

Yesterday at the Professional Communications Congress, PROCOM Aragón 2008, hold at the university of Zaragoza, The biggest mobile phone operators in Spain: Vodafone, Orange and of course Telefonica Movistar, talked about the immediate situation about the iPhone in this country.

Fco. José Santos Esteras from Telefonica affirmed they have an exclusive contract with Apple to distribute the iPhone in our country, but this contract contract won’t be illimited, Danie Pujol from Orange said it will be effective supposedly for only three or six months.

On the other hand, Orange are coming to an agreement with Apple to distribute their product in other countries than France or Spain.

Finally Telefonica have the exclusivity of the iPhone in Spain for the next months and neither vodafone nor orange will attack.

Unfortunately they didn´t talk about the launch date of the different available versions of the product: iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iTablet or all of them.

Google has recently announced the availability of mobile image ads for AdWorks and AdSense. Supported image formats are JPEG, GIF y PNG.

As Google Mobile blog claims, “These look like standard image ads for desktop web pages but they are smaller to fit on mobile screens and they run on the mobile content network”.

In fact, an image ad will never weight more than 3KB (a 305 x 64 banner).

Young people are mobile

January 9th, 2008 by Daniel Vecino

Invited by Ramon Ananos, yesterday I enjoyed so much sharing more than an hour with a group of Business students (21-22 years old).

We talked about mobile marketing and new technologies and how mobile technologies will be one or two years later.

I usually speak about mobile technologies, but in this case I’m very surprised for the great response I achieved when I asked about mobile services that they want as mobile users. Pizza orders, bus routes and schedules, ski maps, information about concerts and parties and so on.

In all cases they prefer using those services through a mobile application instead of sms or mobile web pages, although they have to pay to download and install those applications. It is a great conclusion because mobile applications are more useful and intuitive than other alternatives.

Besides, they were very surprised to know that it is possible to install those applications via bluetooth without any cost for them, or download them via SMS Premium, but in this case with a discount or promotion code.

Good news for mobile market, good news for companies. Young people are mobile. Young people want mobile services…

Ok! Lets give them those services!
