iPhone´s Firmware 2.2 is already available for developers, and some future implementations are “leaked”. In this case, Google Street view is one of those.

As you know Google Street view is (unless for me) one of the greatest app for the T-Mobile G1 (Android OS). iPhone OS is built with Maps (Google maps) and now you can even download for free Google Earth on the App Store. Now people from Google are working on this amazing app to be released with firmware 2.2 and one of the highlights is that this version Google Steet view for the iPhone features the ability to give mass transit directions.

There is some more information about 2.2 firmware. For example: line-in audio is now supported, giving devs the ability to create voice recorders and other interesting audio apps, the possibility of disable the keyboard autocorrection and many more.

Of course amazing new features will be provided with this new firmware, but I hope some of the bugs that already exist will be once and for all fixed like the slow control of the screen keyboard.

One of the best plugins for web browsers are now available for the iPhone. Cooliris for the iPhone is perfect for browsing through media-rich web content on the fly with an incredible displayed interface.

Simple and cool as in desktops, Cooliris Piclens runs perfect on the iPhone and works as a web browser too when you simple tap on the image link.

Discover on the iPhone has some additional features that distinguish it from the traditional web client. Since the iPhone knows where you are, you’ll get news customized to your locale (Spanish users will automatically have a Spain News feed available to them, for example). This is a great new feature and a big shout-out to our enthusiastic international user base!

Discover on Cooliris for the iPhone also allows you to zoom in on the media and pull up the related story in-line by using the Earth icon. There’s no need to jump out of Cooliris and visit the parent website in order to get the full story!

We have been testing Cooliris and our verdict is: essential. It is simply the best way to search for images and video on the web, cool and simple interface.

Hologram mania is here, some weeks ago we reported about a hologram app for the iPhone, and now a similar application for the HTC Touch Diamond.

VR Hologram very similar to the wii Head Tracking VR demo made famous on youtube.
Uses G-Sensor to track tilt and update the VR Hologram view accordingly. 3D Hologram created using Managed Direct 3D Mobile (MD3DM). Found it easier to learn than the Managered wrapper for Opengl ES.

First Release V.1

MD3DM Graphics
G-Sensor view tilt (smoothed using moving average)
Nav sensor zoom
Tap screen to exit

This is Pauloke´s first 3D app/game and also his first windows mobile app, and he say this is only a concept can also be used to show those without the Diamond it abilities.

The aim of Tantug VoIP phone is making internet telephony friendly. VoIP in mobile devices is gaining ground over the years and is going to become great important.

But the truly special feature of this device is its original design. After being been awarded Red Dot and iF Golden award, it has been newly announced as the Golden award winner in US EID award. Its design is clean and sharp, avoiding unnecessary features except for a faux antenna which provides a retro look to the device. Besides, its changeable upper case (with different colors and patterns) allow to personalize its appearance for each user.

Featuring bluetooth, wireless and touch pad design, the Tantung VoIP is a device suitable for everybody.

W3C has released its 10 commandments to be a great mobile parishioner

Design for one web. Content designed with diverse devices in mind reduces cost, increases flexibility, and reaches the needs of more people.

Rely on web standards. In the highly fragmented market of devices and browsers, standards are the best guarantee for interoperability.

Stay away from known hazards. Thoughtful design can help reduce usability problems due to small screens and keyboards, and other features of mobile devices.

Be cautious of device limitations. When choosing to use a particular Web technology, consider that mobile devices vary greatly in capability.

Optimize navigations. Simple navigation and typing become critical when using a small screen and keyboard, and limited bandwidth.

Check graphics & colors. Images, colors, and style brighten content, but require care: devices may have low-contrast screens or may not support some formats.

Keep it small. Smaller sites make users happier by costing less in time and money.

Use the network sparingly. Web protocol features can help improve the user experience by reducing the impact of network bottlenecks and latencies.

Help & guide user input. Keyboards and other input methods on mobile devices can be tedious to use, so effective designs minimize the need for them.

Think of users on the go. Web users on the go want compact information when time is short and distractions many.

Please follow the father´s word to navigate in a better mobile web world.

Amen

NVIDIA is launching its forthcoming “mobile computer on a chip” architecture, called Tegra.Plans are now well underway to take this technology mainstream, with numerous partnerships, and products planned for Q4 2008 and Q1 / Q2 2009.

Mobile devices will experience a new GUI era, Amazing!

Features:

The Tegra line will be all-in-one, integrated systems on a chip, containing an 800MHz ARM CPU, GeForce GPU, image processor, HD video processor, and controllers for all other aspects of core operations (memory, USB ports, communication) — in a package about the size of a dime.

The range will come in two varieties to start — the Tegra 600 and the Tegra 650. Both chips can run games like Quake 3 with full filters and anti-aliasing at rates of more than 40 FPS, and will support 1080p HDMI, WSXGA+ LCD or CRT, and NTSC/PAL TV outs.

Products will be built atop Windows CE or Windows Mobile, though the company isn’t ruling out other operating systems, like Android.

The chipset is 1/10th the size of Intel’s Atom and is ultra-low power. A single charge can allow the user to run audio for 130 hours or HD video for up to 30 hours.

The first Tegra systems will be handhelds or small laptops with screens ranging in size from 4-inches to 12-inches, with QWERTY or touchscreen interfaces, as well as WiFi and possibly 3G connectivity.

Starting prices for the initial devices will range from $199 to $249.

NVIDIA is giving both an SDK for that UI and hardware development kit to partners, and encouraging them to utilize the custom chipset of the Tegra for user interface design and functionality.

The chipmaker expects to see media players, MIDs, and GPS units using the chipset by the end of 2008, with ODM smartphones in Q1 2009.

It is time for Opera Mobile to bring us the opportunity to work on internet applications without internet connection thanks it will support Gears in its desktop and mobile browsers.

“Opera will have full support for Gears on mobile when they launch this year,” said Charles Wiles, Product Manager for mobile web apps at Google. “Opera Mobile 9.5 will be a great example of a high-quality browser on a mobile platform that supports Gears. This marks the coming of age of the browser as the platform for application development on mobile devices.”

“The forthcoming Opera Mobile 9.5 with Gears will usher in a new era for the Web on mobile devices,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. “Together, these products will create new ways to bring applications to life on mobile devices. Developers will be able to use this along with Opera Dragonfly to develop and debug compelling applications for any connected environment.”

Great!

Android live demo was presented yesterday on a HTC device, rumored HTC “Dream”, at the company’s I/O conference in San Francisco.
Check in the following video how android runs.

Google StreetView is awesome!

Google Maps looks great too.

That is great and i love the unlock screen, that is so fresh!, but, what about the multi-touch features?
