Bioshock & Re-Volt shooters on iPhone

May 30th, 2008 by Álvaro Arregui

Iphone could be the next gen on videogame handsets, maybe too expensive compared with NDS or PSP but it is provided with the best features of both, touch screen and internet. Iphone is the result object of mixing NDS and PSP and it could be a great videogames platform.

On this way, many developers are working on franchises of their popular games for the iPhone, like Sega´s Monkey Ball, EA´s Spore and many more. Now one of the best games ever, Bioshock is being developed for this platform by IG Fun and it was presented at Brew 2008 it was non-interactive, but they said the 3D visuals were being rendered on the handset itself.

Meanwhile to confirm that it could come true soon, another shooter Re-Volt was presented at Brew 2008, check in the video below how it runs on an iPod Touch.

Maybe it is too early to tell that iPhone will become in a handset console, but it is provided with a lot of cool features that make it a great platform to transfer and create brand new videogame franchises.

N-Gage will support 3D Hardware Acceleration

February 27th, 2008 by Jose Manuel Cristobal

N-Gage SDK product manager, Peter Lykke Nielsen, showed how the OpenGL ES 1.1 standard will be incorporated into the N-Gage Software Development Kit (SDK) in the future.

There are already a number of N-Gage compatible devices that are also OpenGL ES 1.1 compliant. Nokia plans to offer hardware-acceleration of select N-Gage games going forward, as well as a software rendered version for those devices that lack hardware acceleration.

It’s really good news for all of you who like playing with your mobiles. And I’m not talking about Tetris, Trivial and Monopoly. I’m talking about a real 3D experience in our mobile devices. It’s really interesting the way things are moving. If I had talked about hardware acceleration in mobile devices I would have been called fool.
