Our LifeStyle Room has a new addition… seems the darts, the scalextric, and the rest of our Wii games will be leaved behind for a while… as we now only want to ROCK !!!

PS: We are getting better (LOL), the first try wasn´t specially good, but we are managing to play some awesome gigs ! (we already had some practice with the guitars)    ;-)

Touch-Screen N-Gage handset on 2009

November 5th, 2008 by admin

Nokia has confirmed an touchscreen support N-Gage platform early next year, and plans to launch more than 30 touch enabled games along 2009.

There is no information about this future handset but it won’t be the 5800 XpressMusic (it doesn´t support N-Gage ). Something better?

Nokia want to make lot of money as Apple is making in this mobile game profitable bussiness, but it is an insecure path and Nokia must solve its n-gage platform limitations and create something at least as good as Apple has made.

NeuroSky: mind controlled mobile applications

October 1st, 2008 by amoros

Have you ever dreamt about controlling your mobile applications with your mind? Well, you can stop dreaming, NeuroSky has brought it to real life.

NeuroSky has demonstrated its last brain-controlled applications at the CTIA 2008. These applications need the NeuroSky headset, which has some sensors to find out the state of your mind. This headset reads the alpha and beta waves from the brain and send them wirelessly to the mobile phone.

Then, the mobile phone application precesses the information received about brain’s waves. This information is useful to measure the degree of the brain’s relaxation, tension and concentration. So the applications will be based on the degree of concentration you have. Don’t think you can make decisions with your mind and transmit them to the applications, not so far at least… It’s more like the application is programmed to do something and it will only work if you are well concentrated on it.

As an example, I can talk about a simple game NeuroSky has developed. It’s about a bug that has to run throw a line or a bigger bug will eat it. In this case, the more the gamer concentrates on it, faster will run the bug. But the gamer can NOT decide to turn, the bug will turn automatically. You can see other game example in the official website, following this link, but this time the game is for computers.

I think this is incredible and it will be used in the future for sure, but I have to say that I was waiting for transmitting my decisions (like in some movies…) and not only transmitting my grade of concentration.

Zen Bound

September 23rd, 2008 by admin

How to create something new? concept or graphics? which is the more important feature in an iPhone game?

People from Secret Exit anwsers this questions with its new game for the iPhone: ZenBound. Game bases seems to be simple but addictive. Zen Bound is a calm and meditative game of wrapping rope around wooden sculptures – a simple task that can become surprisingly complex.

The game uses photographed materials and sampled rope sounds as well as an original musical score. The concept is an original one by Mikko ‘Memon’ Mononen, previously in lead engineer position for Crysis.

Zen Bound features an incredible Down-tempo original musical and sound effects by Ghost Monkey.

“It is something to be enjoyed at a slow pace: a game where a high score is not the goal. Zen Bound is designed to challenge in a subtle way, it does not attack or force the player. There is also an element of self-reflection, for each of the sculptures is a representation of a state of mind or a human emotion”.

In my opinion this kind of games fits perfectly in this platform: simple controls, beautiful graphics and a great idea that makes you to hold your iphone during hours.

Zen Bound will be available for Phone and iPod touch this fall, other multiple platforms, including game consoles, PC and Mac, soon.

iPhone Gaming Platform

August 26th, 2008 by Javier Rubio

Day after day, we hear about new austounding videogames being developed for iPhone, but just some have already been released on the App Store. This could change and speed up thanks to Exit Games. The company has recently announced support for iPhone Online Multiplayer Gaming on their Neutron platform and they are developing their own iPhone SDK for gaming. Neutron minimizes time-to-market and project risks, providing an infrastructure not only for developers (SDKs, doc and code centers, etc) but for the distribution and billing of your game, as well as services (e.g. webservices for MMOG).

Another game for the iPhone. Today is the well known videogame Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart. A funny racing game like the Mario Kart.

I still think iPhone could be a great videogame platform, maybe not for its graphics but for its interactivity, it is like a Nintendo DS, but including its acelerometers that brings a lot of fun and a different experience.
