LG Cookie: a Touchscreen Budget Handset

November 17th, 2008 by Marta Tejel

The affordable LG Cookie handset, known before as LG KP500, is going to be launched next month in Spain. It is a full touch screen phone and, although it looks like the LG Renoir, the new LG Cookie presents clear differences in connectivity characteristics… hence the lower price.

Both handsets have an impressive 3” 240 x 400 pixel display and the user interface they used is the LG version of Samsung TouchWIZ Widgetizedthe, called Flash UI. Good news are that Flash UI in LG Cookie looks more polished than the one in the LG Renoir.

Some outstanding features:

  • MicroSD expandable memory,.
  • Multimedia player (automatically synchronized with Windows Media Player).
  • FM radio.
  • Accelerometer.
  • Virtual QWERTY keyboard and support for various widgets.
  • Stylus.
  • 89 grms.
  • Only 11.9 mm thick.

In the other hand this new device presents a big lack of connectivity features, because It doesn’t have WiFi, 3G nor GPS. Even the camera quiality is lower with a 3Mpx camera instead of 8Mpx that the LG Renoir has.

In short, a great and cheap touch experience (as the LG campaign suggests) , that is going to be in the spanish market in first week next month for 249€.
