Add keyboard & TV tuner to your iPhone

November 7th, 2008 by admin

Imagine a qwerty keyboard and a Tv Tuner on your iPhone, Just imagine. You´ll need a bigger bag to carry this fully loaded iPhone. :(

Even if you like this clumsy option you can get them. Check it out :D

SoftBank has announced (Jap) this week the release of its new One-Seg digital TV tuner for the iPhone available on December. (One-Seg is a digital TV system only available in Japan and Brazil and usually stands for great picture and sound quality.)

The device makes it possible to watch digital TV via WiFi by converting TV signals into IP-based data. Buyers can use the TV tuner (weight: 80 grams) continuously for three hours and can get a free One-Seg application from the AppStore. The device doubles as a battery extender when plugged into the iPhone 3G’s dock connector. WOW

SoftBank hasn’t officially put a price but presumably it will cost around $100. iPhone has some handicaps in Japan where “native” handsets are fully loaded of features including of course TV tunner which is very popular in japan. As you can imagine Softbank TV tuner for the iPhone will never release in the rest of the world.

On the other hand, an iPhone owner hacker has hooked up a mini keyboard to the iPhone.  I don´t need a physical keyboard on the iPhone and lot of people think the same but as first attempt and although it looks not cool enough I have to admit it is a great mod. Check video below.

Believe it or not MacAlly has created its own bluetooth physical keyboard for the iphone, the BTKeyMini. This tiny gadget has a cover that doubles as a holder for your iPhone. It is not available yet, but you can pre-order it now just for “only” 92$. Not a great choice I think :(

I only have to say: WTF! Does you really need it?
