An uncertain future for SE Alicia

September 17th, 2008 by Marta Tejel

It is not clear if the Sony Ericsson Alicia, we saw a couple of months ago as the official name of Sony Ericsson W707, is eventually cancelled or coming. Despite of this situation, new pictures and news about this device keep coming.

W707 is part of Sony Ericsson Walkman(R) phones, an advance version of W980. But, although it is similar to W980 in functionality and this is a likely cause of its possible cancellation, it has different design language. “Alicia” includes three screens, one internal display and two on the external. One of the external displays is the common square display we see in most of the phones, but the other one is special, it is a circular display which acts as a control pad for music, weather and other applications.

However, compared with W980, functionality of W707 will be somewhat cut off: it will NOT have 8GB module, FM-transmitter, and stereo speakers. Aside from its walkman feature, SE W707 Alicia also packed with a 3.2MP fixed focus no flash camera and HSDPA connectivity support.

Its future is not clear, we only have to wait what happens.
