National Geographic Mobile Division

National Geographic desires to get deeply into Mobile Technology. So, for this aim, the company has created the National Geographic Mobile division. This department, that is leaded by Aaron Kohn (VP of corporate strategy and development), takes care of mobile content and games development business.

These are some of the first strategies are going to be adopted:

  • Wap site: It is going to be created a wap site that will contain all of National Geograpic news, images, music and videos which will be tied to company’s magazines and TV network. It will be available next month.
  • PlayPhone: This mobile media company provider, will distribute subscription-based services online. Wallpapers, ringtones, videos and games for PC and mobile will be available.

Ted Prince, COO of National Geographic Ventures and EVP of operations for National Geographic Global, has said: “This is a great opportunity for us to leverage our wonderful assets and feed the growing demand from consumers who are looking for compelling, rich media content on their cellphones and for us to extend our mission globally.” Now, National Geographic is nearer us than ever.
