Grand theft auto IV, maybe the game of the year 2008, maybe one of the best videogames ever and of course as a hardcore gamer and collector i took my copy on release day.

The use of cell phones in the game is awesome, and i am going to review this part of the game in this following article. Niko bellic (main character) travels to Liberty City (N.Y.C.) and meets his cousin Roman. He gives to Niko the first mobile phone in order to take contact with Roman and the “friends” you meet.This first cell phone is a B&W screen and old fashioned ring tones, like in the late 90´s.

For the first time in a video game you can use the cell phone as in the real world, you can put in on/off vibrate, change your ring tone, type mobile phone numbers, answer or dismiss incoming calls, read and answer sms, and much more.

You are not the only one who have a cell phone in the city. It is like on the real world, you can see people in the streets talking by cell phone, or ring tones surrounding the area. Even the game have its own cell phone operator, it is called “Whiz”, Cool!

You can think, it is ok, but it is not enough. Well, it is only the beginning, because after playing many missions you will receive you second cell phone, it is now when the use of the cell phone is funnier.

This second cell phone (the second i have received, but could be more yet) is like current cell phones in real world. You can change your mp3 ring tones (even download them from internet, of course paying for it), you can apply video wallpapers on the background, and one of the best features in this new handset is that it is provided with a camera. That is incredible!.

You can use the phone camera for taking a photo of a drug dealer in order to confirm his authority on a deal to your contractor, and the funniest detail is. You first take the picture, then you send it via sms to the contractor and he answers your sms as affirmative for an action or he answer the sms to tell you to repeat the picture because the first one was blur.

All this actions could not sound interesting when you are reading this words, but trust me, if you have the opportunity of playing that game you will discover all that funny actions, and it won´t defraud you.
