Probably, most of you don’t know who is Miguel de Icaza. This man is one of the most important people in Open Source world. He is also the leader of the MONO initiative. What’s MONO? a Linux port of Microsoft’s .NET framework. Simply as it sounds, but with more implications than it could look like.
Some of the guys involved in this project has been able to port, compile and run MONO on the iPhone. It’s just a curiosity, but it shows up the potential of Apple’s little wonder. It’s a pity that Apple has decided to prohibit applications running external code, like Java Virtual Machine, Script interpreters and Application Frameworks similar to .Net.
Check the following video to view Mono running on the iPhone.
