Android Developer Challengue Deadline extended

January 30th, 2008 by Jose Manuel Cristobal

Google Android team says that due to a new version of the SDK to be launched during the following days (weeks?), and in order to allow developers take advantage of this improvements (nothing about new functionality), the Android Developer Challenge’s deadline has been extended.

Here is the updated time line:

  • April 14, 2008: Deadline to submit applications for judging
  • May 5, 2008: Announcement of the 50 first round winners, who will be eligible for the final round
  • June 30, 2008: Deadline for the 50 winners of the first round to submit for the final round
  • July 21, 2008: Announcement of the grand prize winner and runner-up

We don’t know if the mentioned reasons are true. We don’t have to think the opposite. But it all sound strange. Maybe lack of participation? I don’t think so. Probably an effort to enlarge the hype around Android is a better explanation. But don’t get me wrong. We are delighted with everything surrounding Android. As well as you are. Don’t you?
