MUPE: A new Java platform from Nokia Labs

December 26th, 2007 by admin

Nokia Labs has just released MUPE, a new Java application framework targetting multi-users games and services. They also claim to allow context-aware applications. MUPE stands for Multi-User Publishing Environment.

Though MUPE was an open source projects since some time ago, now it has become mature enough in order to be a Nokia Labs release, with all it means.

For developers, in addition to multi-user and context-aware support, there’s another key point: it only needs server side programming.

For users, it is just an application from where to access a growing number of games and services.

MUPE is expected to work on MIDP 2.0 devices, specially on Nokia S60 and S40.

Maybe we should give it a test!
