Thanks to XatakaMovil we get to this odd utility for Windows Mobile Pocket PCs. It comes from Vito Technologies and is called GoodWin.
VITO Technology Inc. is a company known for its software utilities for Windows Mobile and Symbian, specially those improving common utilities of OS and GPS navigation.
Now, they have a new touch oriented task launcher and switcher for Pocket PC. GooWin allows to “slide the screen with finger to scroll the list of favorites and running programs, installed applications, and settings - all on one screen!”. In addition, it can work as your idle screen, displaying new SMS, email, current time, missed calls, …
GoodWin is worth 19.95$, but a 14-day trial release is available.
I have tried it on a HTC Touch and it works fine! The GUI looks pretty cool, but… it is still pretty far from iPhone because of the up to now unbeaten touch screen hardware of the iPhone.
Moreover, it is just a launcher and application switcher. Once you’ve clicked in any of the application’s icon and it is started you go past the friendly GUI of GoodWin.
So that, maybe we should wait until more functionality is included. Anyway, for sure, Windows Mobile GUI will have a similar look and feel sooner than later, no matter who develops it.
