Nokia launches its Device Loaner Program

Nokia has launched a new service for developers via its Forum Nokia web site. This is what they have called the ‘Device Loaner Program’.

In short, this service allows developers previously registered at eStore to borrow a Nokia handset for some time. The program is currently in trial, so it is available only for North America and Europe.

Nokia will charge for every period you borrow the device depending on the actual handset model and whether you are based on Europe or North America. A guarantee fee is required by Nokia, too. This fee shall be returned if the product is received according to the conditions of the loan agreement. Moreover, if you send back the device to Nokia after the specified period you would be charged a late fee per day or a missing part fee.

As we have read on the program’s FAQ, the period available for borrowing a handset is 3 weeks though Nokia would review it on a case-by-case basis.

We think this is an interesting initiative from Nokia though maybe the 3 weeks period should be increased.
