NetBeans IDE 6.0 beta 2

October 30th, 2007 by admin

The next release of the popular Java IDE is getting real closer. Although it is scheduled for December 2007, a new beta has been released this week.

With NetBeans 6.0 beta 2 any Java developer can taste all of the IDE features, only a risk of suffering some bugs:

  • Code Editor improvements
  • Ruby / JRuby / Ruby on Rails support
  • Installation and upgrading system have been improved
  • A new Swing GUI editor
  • New profiling tools.
  • New components in Web developing and J2EE programming
  • Improved mobility tools. Awesome mobile game designer
  • SOA and UML

Although all are necessary improvements, my favourite is the code editor, yet is hasn’t achieved the IntelliSense functionality level. Code completion is much smarter than in previous versions and code snippets are just great.

All these features make NetBeans a great tool to achieve productivity in our developements. A lot of stuff has changed when Visual Studio 2003 was light years away from NetBeans 3.5. … What do you think?
