Past Thursday Apple launched an online directory of more than 200 web applications targetting the Safari browser on iPhone and iPod Touch.

By now, the site has a portfolio of applications including Facebook, MovieTickets.com, Sudoku, Fandango, WeatherBug, mobile dictionaries, converters, …

The applications are organized in categories and some list like the most recent viewed, the most popular are provided. The directory provides a URL for each of the applications to access the service.

This applications repository is an Apple’s attempt for providing iPhone users with applications designed keeping in mind iPhone capabilities, once they don’t allow native applications.
