Widgets on S60 3rd FP2

October 9th, 2007 by admin

The upcoming release of Symbian S60 3rd FP2 will include widgets support. This is not breaking news. It was already announced in April that S60 would include a Web Run-Time that would allow this new generation of widgets on S60, developed using well-known standard-based web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM.

Some degree of control of native capabilities of the device is allowed too through a JavaScript API. Not much by now, but we hope in further releases more functionality from S60 APIs will be exposed.

A very interesting set of slides on how all this actually works, is available in SlideShare. Really good stuff!!!
