Movistar president, César Alierta, said that the spanish operator is negotiating with Apple in order to sell the iPhone in Spain by the first half of 2008
Apple’s tactics are clear. Set an exclusive contract in each country with just one operator, and Movistar (Telefonica) is willing to do that, mainly because they see the iPhone distribution as a very good bussiness oportunity. Moreover the first contract done (iPhone + AT&T) has become a major success with almost one million devices sold.
Other possible contracts are:
- U.K.: O2
- France: Orange
- Germany: T-Mobile
Although other contracts details are still unknown, is suposed that Apple will receive 10% of each operator earnings done with the iPhone.
