
First of all, I’d like to give my point of view regarding this service. As Antonio Ortiz comments in Error500, this services should be called “desktop emulator”, “desktop simulator” or something similar. Conceptually, it has nothing to do with an Operating System.
Jooce, is another one of the so-called “webos”. It is currently in a closed beta state, but you can take a look a the functionality offered through a set of available videos. The interface has been developed using Adobe Flash, what guarantee a wide market penetration and a terrific potential customer base. The services offered by Jooce are the most common ones offered by similar services, namely:
- Photo managing and viewing
- Multimedia player
- Games
- File sharing.
- Chat
- Social Networking
SevenClick believes that sooner or later, we’ll find similar services in the mobile market. Prices are still high, but some carriers are dropping their offerings. Once mobile data access is affordable by customers, the main barrier for this services had fallen. The main advantage of Jooce against other services is the Adobe Flash interface. Adobe Flash Lite is currently supported by a high number of mobile devices, representing an entry point for this service. Anyway, these services will probably take off once RIA technology is available. And Microsoft’s Silverlight have plenty of things to do here with its multi-device nature. Let’s see…
