3 Drops Mobile Data Prices

September 3rd, 2007 by Jose Manuel Cristobal

3, the UK based mobile operator belonging to Hutchinson Whampoa Group, has started three new competitive pricing for HSDPA service.

  • £10 (14€) per month for 1 GB of data
  • £15 (22€) per month for 3 GB of data
  • £25 (37€) per month for 7 GB of data

It’s less than a half comparing to Vodafone prices in Spain (30€ per 1 GB).

SevenClick hopes that other mobile operators follow this path, lowering its data pricing, as long as this is the only way to foster mobile internet usage. Moreover, mobile operators should be very careful regarding WiFi enabled mobile phones, because this feature is increasingly being included in more and more models which could eventually cut down customer income coming from data services. And this is just the beginning, as long as WiMAX is knocking at the door.
